History
People have lived on Earth for thousands of years. Long ago, humans built small villages near rivers because they needed water for drinking, farming, and cooking. Some ancient cities are still important today. One organization that helps protect historical places is United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). UNESCO protects old buildings, monuments, and cultural heritage sites around the world. In the past, people used simple tools to work. They made clothes from animal skin and used stones or wood to build houses. Transportation was very slow because people traveled by walking or riding animals. History also tells us about famous people. Kings, scientists, and explorers helped change the world. Students learn history at school to understand how society developed. Old stories, pictures, and museums help people learn about history. Visiting museums is a good way to see objects from the past. History is important because it helps people understand their culture and learn from past experiences.
